Homare Sake Brewery is a Japanese sake brewery located in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture. The company was founded in 1918 by Kosaku Karahashi, a rice wholesaler who had been manufacturing miso and koji (malted rice), and took over the brewery. Gradually, the business expanded and became one of the leading sake breweries in the Tohoku region. The extremely high quality of Homare sake has earned it a high reputation both in Japan and abroad: it has won awards at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) and other sake competitions, and was even selected as a souvenir for the heads of state at the 2016 Ise-Shima Summit.
