Iwamura Jozo, Ena, Gifu

Iwamura Jozo is a sake manufacturer located in Iwamura-cho, Ena City, Gifu Prefecture, and was founded in 1787 and incorporated in 1921. Before World War II, the company was engaged in a wide range of brewing businesses including miso, soy sauce, mirin, and shochu (Japanese liquor) in addition to sake, but after the war, it has specialized in sake. The company’s sake is made with locally grown rice and water from a well dug more than 400 years ago. The company’s sake has also won a gold medal at the National New Sake Competition.
